Speakers

Vladamir Guerrero Jr - Website Pic - KSCD

Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

One of MLB’s shining stars at only 23 years of age, “Vladdy” has been making headlines since singing with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2015. Following in his fathers footsteps, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has been an exhilarating player to watch, both at the plate and out on 1st base. Born in Montreal while Vladimir Guerrero Sr. played for the Montreal Expos, baseball has been everything from day one.

Guerrero is the son of hall of famer Vladimir Guerrero Sr. Vladdy was born in Montreal while Vlad Sr was playing for the Montreal Expos.

Vladdy was raking in the minor league’s while Blue Jays fans were buying up Guerrero Jr jerseys in the anticipation of being called up to the major league. Vlad made his major league debut for the Toronto Blue Jays on April 26th, 2019 against the Oakland Athletics. In his short time with the Blue Jays he has broken multiple franchise records including youngest ever to reach 100 RBI’s!

In a few short years Guerrero has made quite the name for himself across the MLB. Vladdy has won a Silver Slugger Award in 2021, won the Hank Award for best offensive player in 2021, won the Juan Marichal award for the best Dominican player in the MLB in 2021, led the MLB in all start voting in 2021, won the all-star game MVP in 2021, already has two 3-HR games, and most recently was named a 2022 Gold Glove Award winner. Impressive!

The Blue Jays are primed for a 2023 Post-Season run with Vladimir Guerrero Jr leading the charge and we can’t wait to go along for the ride!

Alek Monoah - Website Pic - KSCD

Alek Manoah

Alek Monoah burst into the MLB with the Toronto Blue Jays on May 27, 2021 and picked up the win number one against the New York Yankees in his major league debut. Alek has turned into one of Major League Baseball’s top stars in 2022. The big man intimidates batters around the league standing at a staggering 6’6”.

Manoah has emerged as the Blue Jays ace pitcher in 2022 and is in contention for the AL Cy Young. Alek posted a 2.24 ERA in 31 starts and 196 innings pitched which puts him in the elite pitchers in the AL. The big man attacks the plate and his passion for pitching has batters fearing each plate appearance.

Alek was the American League pitcher of the month in September of 2022 posting a ERA of 0.88 across 41 innings pitched which is the lowest single month ERA in team history. Manoah solidified his “ace” status in 2022 and we can’t wait to see what he brings in 2023. The Big Puma is going to be face of the Blue Jays pitching for many years to come.

Jordan Romano - Blue Jays - KSCD - Main

Jordan Romano

Jordan Romano is the Toronto Blue Jays hometown kid. The Canadian made his debut with his home town Toronto Blue Jays in 2020 earning his first MLB save in August of 2020. Romano became the Blue Jays lights out closer during the 2021 MLB season. He finished the 2021 season as runner up for the Mariano Rivera American League Reliever of the Year Award.

The big man from Canada stands at 6'5" and is known for his four seam fastball and nasty slider to close out some of the best hitters in the MLB. On April 11, 2022 Romano set a club record when the closer notched his 26th consecutive save. He was named to the 2022 MLB All star team for the first time this past year. Romano finished the season 3rd in the American League with 36 saves, striking out 73 batters in 64 innings.

We are excited to see Jordan continue to dominate with the Jays in 2023 and can't wait to see him this February in Saskatoon!

Jamie Campbell - Website Pic - KSCD

Jamie Campbell

We welcome back Jamie Campbell this year's Kinsmen Sports Celebrity Dinner. He’s been an integral piece to a number of our fundraisers in the past and he’s always been a big supporter of the Kinsmen Club of Saskatoon and what we do in our community. Jamie is a Canadian born sportscaster for Sportsnet where he is the host of Jays Central. Campbell has hosted Jays Central since its inception in 2010. He is a fan favourite on Sportsnet and interacts with fans any chance he gets.

Campbell is well known for his call of Canada’s first gold medal on home soil when Alex Bilodeau took gold in the men’s moguls at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Jamie is truly one of the gem’s of Canada’s sportscasting community. In 2020 Jamie took to the streets with Conquer Covid to deliver supplies to front line workers. He also started taking DM’s on social media during the pandemic making well over 1000 phone calls to people across Canada missing baseball or just needing someone to speak with. Incredible!

Jamie is one of the good guys. His down to earth approach to sportscasting and his vast knowledge of baseball makes him the best man to host this years dinner with the Kings of the North. We can’t wait to welcome him in Saskatoon in February!
